THE BODY

The basis for every top-level loudspeaker is uncompromising cabinet design. We planned our cabinet to be as stiff as it can get, reducing unwanted vibrations and negative influences on the loudspeaker's sound.

From all the available materials, we've decided to use solid wood for our housings. This is the best choice on account of its superior visual and sound qualities.

We use the most prestigious and high-quality wood of the European and American walnut for the housings of our speakers; this gives our products a mark of eternity. The client must only select, which of the both wood types he would prefer. American walnut is of more even and dense growth, as well as darker color. On the other hand, the wood of the European walnut is more lively and reddish-brown color (it's brighter than the American walnut).

Walnut wood is suitable for exact modeling also, as it is a very beautiful and durable natural material, which is important to us as we strive for superior design and the highest product quality.

For achieving an acoustical basement that will produce high-quality sound, we have been steered mostly by anti-resonant technical know-how. For this reason, Gracioso loudspeaker housings are made by assembling multiple solid-wood horizontal segments that are preliminarily controlled, measured and assembled for optimal self-cancellation of resonances.

The Gracioso loudspeaker has the appearance of a droplet; no parallel planes are inside the cabinet. The inside of the upper and lower surfaces of the cabinet are modeled with special relief treatment. All these factors used in the cabinet design ensure 100% non-resonant and acoustically ideal housing for the speakers.

The Gracioso loudspeaker is completely hand-made; every segment, every detail is modeled and checked. The final product must be examined and approved by Acoustic Preference technical managers.

Waxing was chosen as the finishing method for the wooden surfaces (housing, stand) of the loudspeaker in serial production. The waxing method conserves the natural appearance of the wood as well as keeping it organically correct.

In addition, maintenance of the loudspeaker is easier with the waxing method, since you can easily re-wax your loudspeakers at home. This way, the product will always glow, as new.

With the agreement of the Acoustic Preference team, you also have the choice to use silk polish as the finishing method on the wood instead.

What's more, the design of Gracioso is a favourite among men and women alike. The majority of women chose Gracioso as the product they would most like to have in their living rooms. That is not a negligible fact if we think of all the nice technical equipment our wives have prevented from entering our homes.

THE HEART

The final quality of any product will go only as far as the basic ingredients will allow...
Morel speaker units are well-known and regarded as some of the most technically advanced, innovative and unique designs available. With the benefits of custom-made drivers along with some of our own modification and matching, the choice for us was obvious.

For the lower frequency ranges, we have selected Morel's new high-end drivers, the Uniflow series.

In addition to their well-known features, such as the DPC cone, the Hexatech aluminum voice coil and the high-power handling Hybrid magnet system, the new extremely open Uniflow aluminum basket achieves even better control and astonishing performance in the lower frequency region.

Due to their extremely flat and even frequency, combined with a smooth and extended roll-off, we were able to implement them with straightforward crossover and minimal frequency corrections.

For upper frequency range, we have selected the state-of-the-art 28 mm silk dome Elite series tweeters, made as matched pairs, with triple magnet system and a Hexatech aluminum voice coil. Selected primarily for their smooth and realistic timbre, we have also achieved ideal synergy with mid-bass ranges, due to their extremely low resonant frequency and flat response.

Having already matched speakers individually, we were able to concentrate on quality rather than complexity regarding crossover. After extended tuning, we have selected a crossover assembled from the finest components supplied by the high-end producer, Mundorf.

For inductors, Mundorf's Air Foil Coils, made from 99.999% pure OFC copper with Polypropylene insulation, are used. All the capacitors used along the signal path are high-end audio grade MKP, matched to a tolerance of 0.5%.
Being an equally important part of the design, the crossover module itself was realised on proprietary, optimised non-resonate printed board.

For the most transparent signal flow, internal connections are made entirely with Solid Silver/ Teflon insulated wires that are custom made and braided for us by Homegrownaudio, USA.

Finally, quality WBT bi-wiring terminals are provided for single or bi-wire speaker connections.
